Lewis County Fair Hosts Spelling Bee Co-Sponsored By BOCES

Elementary and middle school students from across Lewis County highlighted their mastery of spelling, competing in the annual fair spelling bees held during the 2026 Lewis County Fair on July 24.

Four competitions were held; Grades 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8.  

The spelling bee competitions are an annual staple of the fair’s week-long festivities. Jefferson-Lewis BOCES is a proud co-sponsor of the spelling bees in conjunction with the fair.  

The top four finalists for each of the competitions are listed below.

Grades 1-2

1^st Place: Brody Nichols, Copenhagen Central School

2^nd Place: Grayson Cooper, Lowville Academy & Central School

3^rd Place: Grayson Vigliotti, Beaver River Central School

4^th Place: Ava Seely, Beaver River Central School

Grades 3-4

1^st Place: Jace Stephens, South Lewis Central School
