Education Law 2-D

Pursuant to New York State Education Law 2-d, parents, legal guardians and persons in parental relation to a student are entitled to certain rights with regard to their child’s personally identifiable information (PII), as defined by Education Law 2-d. This policy addresses BOCES’ responsibility to adopt appropriate administrative, technical and physical safeguards and controls to protect and maintain the confidentiality, integrity and availability of its data, data systems and information technology resources. FERPA (Family Educational Rights Privacy Act)

The Cooperative Board of Education recognizes its obligation to maintain the confidentiality of student education records and to grant parents and eligible student’s access to those records in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Uninterrupted Scholars Act, P.L. 112-278 (2013). Policy 5050

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), together with other Federal and State statutes, affords parents or “eligible students” (students who are over 18 years of age or enter a postsecondary educational institution) certain rights with respect to the student’s education records. PPRA (Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment )
