BOCES Welding program provides intensive training in SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW welding techniques. With a focus on hands-on learning and real-world application, you’ll complete the program ready to pursue NCCER Level I and Level II certifications—building a strong foundation for a career in welding. The program is compliant with New York State Department of Labor Apprentice Training.

Foundational Skills and Safety Training

Session I covers essential skills for entry-level welders, from safety protocols to basic welding techniques. You’ll learn oxyfuel cutting, SMAW setup, base metal preparation, and fillet welding using industry-standard equipment.

With a focus on precision and quality, each session reinforces the skills needed to safely and effectively join metals in manufacturing and construction settings. Upon completion, you’ll be eligible to earn NCCER Level I certification.

Professional focus

Advanced Techniques and Specialized Applications

Session II builds on the skills learned in Session I, advancing into GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW techniques, including aluminum welding and plate fabrication. You’ll learn to read welding detail drawings, perform plasma arc cutting (PAC), and execute complex welds with various metals and alloys.

Successful graduates can earn NCCER Level II certification, positioning them for specialized roles in metal fabrication and structural welding.

Program Details

Develop practical, hands-on welding skills using industry-standard equipment and techniques. This program prepares you for entry-level positions in manufacturing, construction, and metal fabrication, aligning with NYS Department of Labor apprenticeship standards.

In order to be considered enrolled, tuition must be paid in full at the time of registration or sponsorship from an agency must be established.
