Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Instructor to teach a three-month course focused on a foundational understanding of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. This class prepares students for further study and hands-on experience in the HVAC field.

           

Some duties include:        

     
  • Develop and deliver engaging, hands-on lessons
  •  
  • Instruct students in the basic principles of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and refrigeration cycles.
  •  
  • Teach operation and function of common HVAC components (compressors, condensers, evaporators, air handling units)
     
  • Demonstrate safety procedures, proper tool usage, and trade math concepts
  •  
  • Provide an overview of system installation and maintenance practices
  •  
  • Prepare students for the EPA 608 Certification opportunity
  •  
  • Answer questions and support diverse learning styles
  •  
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and professional classroom environment

Job Qualifications

     
  • 5 years’ proven experience working in HVAC field
  •  
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, and safety standards
  •  
  • Prior teaching or public speaking experience preferred
  •  
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both novice and experienced learners
  •  
  • EPA 608 certification a plus but not required
  •  
  • Must be fingerprinted & take the adult education teaching exam for NYS.
  •  

COMPENSATION: $45.00 per hour

SCHEDULE: 2 evenings per week for 3 months
