Electrical Wiring Technology

Learn how to wire residential and commercial systems, interpret blueprints, and follow safety codes. Hands-on training prepares you for entry-level electrical work, apprenticeships, or continued study in this high-demand trade.

From Classroom to Jobsite

In Electrical Wiring Technology, students don’t just learn theory—they wire real systems. You'll practice bending conduit, installing switches, reading schematics, and troubleshooting problems using industry tools.

With a focus on both residential and commercial wiring, you’ll graduate ready to hit the ground running in a skilled trade that’s always in demand.

This course is also open to adult students,. High school students are given first priority for enrollment.

Electrical Technology at a Glance

School Credits
Students will have the opportunity to earn up to four credits per year in CTE or a combination of CTE and integrated academic credit for career and financial management, math and science.
Career Focus
Gain hands-on experience in electrical circuits, blueprints, safety, and control systems—skills that open doors to careers in construction, facilities maintenance, electrical supply, and system installation, or serve as a launchpad to becoming a licensed electrician.

Earn Industry Credentials and College Credit

We have articulation agreements with Alfred State College, Lincoln Technical Institute, SUNY Delhi, SUNY Adirondack, Jefferson Community College, and IBEW Local 910. Students can also earn a 10-hour safety card issued by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), as well as the two-year National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) certifications.

BOCES students also have the opportunity to earn up to 20 credits towards a two-year, AOS Business Degree at Jefferson Community College.
