Certification Requirements & Exams: Applicants interested in what is needed for a first time certificate or additional certificate can access the NYS Education Department online search feature which allows you to identify the specific requirements you must meet for any given certificate.
Credit by Exam: Different exams are available to help you earn credit towards your certification. Learn more about the different options available.
DASA Training: Six hours of DASA training is required for all applicants for certification. Learn more about training courses available.
Child Abuse Identification Workshop: All applicants for certification are required to complete two clock hours of coursework or training regarding the identification and reporting of suspected child abuse and treatment. Learn more about training options available.
School Violence Prevention and Intervention Training: All applicants for a certificate are required to complete two clock hours of course work or training in school violence prevention and intervention. Learn more about the training options available.
Coursework/Training in the Needs of Children With Autism: All candidates for a classroom teaching certificate in all areas of Special Education were required to complete coursework or training from a State Education Department approved provider. Learn more about the training options available.
