BOCES is the Board of Cooperative Educational Services. It is a regional public education agency which functions in New York State as an extension of local school districts. There are 38 BOCES statewide. It is governed by a BOCES Board similar to a local board of education. The CEO is the District Superintendent and BOCES employs school administrators to manage its programs, teachers, and instructional support staff to provide instruction and other specialists to provide technical assistance.

Jefferson-Lewis-Hamilton-Herkimer-Oneida BOCES (often times referred to as Jefferson-Lewis BOCES) is overseen by a nine-member Board of Education and by District Superintendent Stephen J. Todd, who also acts as the CEO for the organization.

A total of 18 school districts are currently served by Jefferson-Lewis BOCES. Services offered to these districts include Administrative Services, Career & Technical Education, Adult Education & Continuing Education, Programs for Exceptional Students and Programs & Professional Development.

Jefferson-Lewis BOCES has offices and locations throughout Jefferson and Lewis Counties. Our main campus in the Town of Watertown houses our Administrative Offices as well as the Charles H. Bohlen, Jr. Technical Center, the Jefferson County ACES Building and several conference rooms that are available to the community to rent for meetings and similar events. Our campus in Glenfield, NY houses the Howard G. Sackett Technical Center and several conference rooms that are available to the community for meetings and similar events. We also have a campus located in Lowville, NY, just behind St. Peter’s Catholic Church. This campus is home to the Jack J. Boak, Jr. Educational Center.
