Ms. O'Shea holding new book

A Bohlen Technical Center instructor and author has another published book to her credit. Audrey O’Shea, Instructor for the Electronic & Computer Technology program, authored the new Wiley/Sybex book “CompTIA® A+® Complete Practice Tests-Third Edition”.

The book contains over 1500 practice test questions and explanations to help prepare anyone entering the IT field for the CompTIA® A+ Certification Exam. This is a professional certification and is considered to be the de facto standard certification for workers entering in the IT field.  Companies such as Intel, RICHO, Nissan, Blue Cross Blue Shield, HP and Dell all use CompTIA® A+ certification in their workforce.

Included in the book are questions on hardware, operating systems, mobile devices, security, networking, virtualization and cloud computing, troubleshooting and more.

The CompTIA® A+ Certification Exam is one of several that are available to BOCES students in the Electronic & Computer Technology program as part of their two-year course. Students have the opportunity to take the exam before graduation and can be officially certified before going onto college or entering the workforce.

This is the fourth book Ms. O’Shea’s has authored. Her previous written works include the Wiley Publishing book “A Geek Girl’s Guide to Electronics and the Internet of Things” as well as books in other genres and serving as the technical editor in several other “CompTIA®” test preparation books.

“I think one reason the acquisitions editor asked me to be part of this and other books is our shared passion for encouraging more women and girls to enter the technology field,” says Ms. O’Shea. It was that passion that motived her to write “A Geek Girl’s Guide to Electronics and the Internet of Things.” Ms. O’Shea hopes having her name attached to books involving IT will encourage more women to consider IT as a possible career path.
