BOCES and several of its partners have been honored by the New York State School Boards Association for our efforts to promote local manufacturing jobs in the region through the annual Manufacturing Day held in October.
The recognition came during the April 6, 2023 meeting of the Jefferson County Industrial Development Agency. BOCES, along with The WorkPlace, the JCIDA, and CITEC Solutions, were named Champions of Change and presented with a banner in celebration.
Manufacturing Day is held each October in the North Country. Students in grades 8-12 have the opportunity to tour local manufacturers. These tours allow the future workforce to get an inside view of modern manufacturing facilities, see how world-class products are manufactured locally, and learn about the variety of career opportunities available in manufacturing. Students who have taken part in the previous Manufacturing Days have gone onto careers in the field.
