BOCES recently bolstered campus safety with the purchase of a portable 911 radio, made possible by a $2,000 Safe Schools Endeavor grant from the Northern New York Community Foundation. This critical addition strengthens the ability of staff to establish direct communication with emergency services and first responders via 911 dispatch during urgent situations.

Raymond Filley, Health and Safety Coordinator for Jefferson-Lewis BOCES, expressed gratitude for the support, stating, “The Safe Schools Endeavor of the Northern New York Community Foundation has enabled Jefferson-Lewis BOCES to strengthen our emergency preparedness in collaboration with our Jefferson County emergency responder partners. We thank them for assisting BOCES with our top priority of making our campuses safe for students, staff, and visitors.”

This initiative underscores BOCES’ commitment to enhancing campus security and ensuring a safe environment for everyone.
