BOCES celebrated the accomplishments of the newest graduates of the Adult Practical Nursing program with a commencement ceremony held January 26, 2024.  Twelve graduates make up this latest class. The ceremony was held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Watertown, NY with family members and friends of the graduates in attendance. Those who could not attend the event live were able to live-stream it via www.boces.tv.

Each graduate took part in the ceremonial pinning as well as the reciting of the Florence Nightingale Pledge. It is a tradition for nursing graduates to recite the pledge as part of pinning ceremonies across the country and is named in honor of the founder of modern nursing.

The graduation was a time of celebration for not only the recent graduates of the program, but for a longtime nursing instructor at BOCES.

Regina Elliott spent 14 years as an instructor in the BOCES Adult PN program, imparting knowledge and acting as a mentor to hundreds of students. In all 415 students graduated from the program under Regina's watch, including twelve recent graduates at the January 26 ceremony. Regina retired as a full-time instructor in November 2023.

Regina was publicly honored for her years of dedication and hard work and presented with a certificate of appreciation.

We want to thank Regina for her service to the community and wish her well on her continued retirement.
