Automotive Technology

The automotive technology field is changing quickly, but students will be well-prepared to succeed. Class activities are complemented by hands-on training experiences in a real-world automotive employment atmosphere. Students will learn to safely use all the tools of the trade while repairing brakes, steering, suspension, electrical systems, computerized engine diagnostics and more.

This is a two year program for juniors and seniors. Students will have the opportunity to earn up to four credits per year in CTE or a combination of CTE and integrated academic credit for career and financial management, math and science.

This course is also open to adult students, however high school students are given first priority for enrollment.

Sample units of study include drive train, steering and suspension, brakes, electrical/electronic systems, computer controls & diagnosis and NYS motor vehicle inspector.

Career opportunities include electrical technician/tire and wheel alignment technician, automotive technician, auto sales/automotive parts retailer, auto reconditioning and military/NASCAR.

We have articulation agreements with Ohio Technology College, Universal Technical Institute, Lincoln Technical Institute, University of Northwestern Ohio, SUNY Canton, SUNY Morrisville, and Alfred State College.

BOCES students also have the opportunity to earn up to 20 credits towards a two-year, AOS Business Degree at Jefferson Community College. Click here to learn more.
