Machinist

Today’s manufacturer works in a technological environment free from the grit and grime of the past. The industry includes operations for a turned, molded or metalworking product; aerospace products and parts; automotive and locomotive products and parts; and much more. The manufacturer of today will use a CNC machine (computer numerically controlled machine). A CNC machine transforms various materials into exact specifications according to the blueprint.

This course will provide all the components needed to seek an entry-level assignment as a manufacturer. The 21 st century manufacturer will need to know the basics of math, computer operation and the inter-relationship of reading a blue print to the function of the final product. The classroom will be combined with a lab experience on CNC machines. The textbook is a software program in which students will have 24/7 access to learn the art of machining. Flight simulator technology is used which shows the student how to operate a CNC machine in a safe, effective and efficient environment.

Class size is limited to 10.
