Megan Couillard gives her Valedictorian Speech

Jefferson-Lewis BOCES recently celebrated the accomplishments of the newest graduates of the Adult Practical Nursing program with a commencement ceremony held January 29, 2021 at our Watertown campus.  Nine graduates from Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties make up this latest class.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing guidelines issued by the local and state health departments, precautions were taken during the course of the ceremony to ensure the safety of all the participants.  Each student came in on an individual basis to take part in the ceremony with all in the room required to wear masks. The ceremony was live streamed as family and friends of the graduates were able to witness and celebrate their achievements.

Each graduate took part in the ceremonial pinning as well as the reciting of the Florence Nightingale Pledge.  The pledge is traditionally recited by nursing graduates in ceremonies across the country and is named in honor of the founder of modern nursing.

The Practical Nursing program at Jefferson-Lewis BOCES is offered through our Adult Education Department.  To learn more about this and other Adult Education programs, visit our website at www.boces.com/adulted
