The Nurse Aide training course prepares the adult student to seek licensure as a Certified Nurse Aid (CNA). Another name for Nurse Aide is Nursing Assistant. The CNA profession is considered an entry-level position in the healthcare field.

The Adult Education Department is authorized to conduct adult Nurse Aide training by the NYS Education Department and NYS Department of Health. Program content and personnel are specified by governing policies.

A Career Training Program in Nurse Aide is offered twice a year. One cohort will start in September and the other will start in February. This is a daytime program offered Monday-Friday only. The program consists of a combination of theory classes, lab classes and clinical assignments in long term care facilities.

The NYS Nursing Home Nurse Aide Examination document provides general information and procedures that nurse aid candidates must complete to become a CNA. In addition, please call the Adult Education Office, 315-779-7220, for more information.
