Today’s installer is responsible for measuring and prepping rooms for the installation of carpet. They are completed in offices, homes and buildings. The industry includes operations in building finishing contractors, home furnishings stores, residential building construction, furniture/home furnishing merchant wholesalers, and nonresidential building construction.
This course will provide all the components needed to seek an entry-level assignment as a carpet layer. The 21 st century carpet installer will need to know the basics of carpet construction; basic math to plan, measure and estimate; floor preparation; and various installation techniques, e.g., glue or tackless, woven or pattern, etc. The classroom will be combined with a lab experience on your own flooring section. The textbook is the industry standard published by the Floor Covering Installation Contractors Association. Students who meet the course requirements will receive a certificate from the FCICA.
The 8 week/48 hour course is offered at the Bohlen Technical Center Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 pm-9 pm. Tuition is $1,995.
