    BOCES Announces Summer Camp for Students

    Jefferson-Lewis BOCES is pleased to announce educational opportunities this summer for local students in Jefferson and Lewis Counties. M.A.S.T. (Manufacturing Academy of Science and Technology) Summer Camps will be taking place July and August at the Charles H. Bohlen, Jr. Technical Center in Watertown and the Howard G. Sackett Technical Center in Glenfield.

    The M.A.S.T. Camp at the Sackett Technical Center will take place July 10th through July 21st and is for incoming 7th, 8th, and 9th graders.  Residents of Lewis County will be given first preference. This particular camp will focus on advanced manufacturing with students learning about science, technology, engineering, and math used in today’s high-tech industries. Students will be tasked with working on a project which will include collaborating with local manufacturers and touring manufacturing facilities.

    The M.A.S.T. Camp at the Bohlen Technical Center will take place Monday through Thursday, July 24th through August 3rd, and is for students between 11-14 years of age. This camp will focus on technology and animal husbandry. Participants will be assisting the New York State Zoo at Thompson Park with one of their exhibits. The challenge will include remodeling an exhibit, making it better for the animals and visitors alike. Science, technology, engineering, and math concepts will be used during the course of this project.

    Both camps are free with lunches provided each day.

    Registration can be completed online or by downloading one of the forms below and mailing it to the Bohlen and Sackett Technical Centers. The deadline to register is June 2nd, 2017.
