Students in the SkillsUSA Chapter at the Bohlen Technical Center are once again reaching out to the local community to provide a much needed community service. Through their annual canned food drive, students in the past have been able to help supply the local food pantry with over $2000 worth of food items and organizers are hoping this year’s drive is even more successful than the last.

“SkillsUSA members are not the only ones participating in this drive. It has become a building wide endeavor,” SkillsUSA Advisor Sia McDermott says. “In the spirit of giving to the community and helping those in need classrooms compete against each in the hopes of collecting as many cans as possible this year.”

All are welcome to donate to the drive. Items should be nonperishable, dry packages or canned products. Also being collected are personal hygiene supplies such as toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, and laundry detergent.
