BOCES Announces Summer Camps for Students
Jefferson-Lewis BOCES is pleased to announce free educational opportunities this summer for local students in Jefferson and Lewis Counties. M.A.S.T. (Manufacturing Academy of Science and Technology) Summer Camps will be taking place this July at the Charles H. Bohlen, Jr. Technical Center in Watertown and the Howard G. Sackett Technical Center in Glenfield.
The M.A.S.T. Camp at the Sackett Technical Center will take place July 9th through July 20th from 8:30 am – 2:30 pm and is for incoming 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. Residents of Lewis County will be given first preference. This particular camp will focus on advanced manufacturing with students learning about science, technology, engineering, and math used in today’s high-tech industries. Students will be tasked with solving a real world problem that will include collaborating with local manufacturers and touring manufacturing facilities.
The M.A.S.T. Camp at the Bohlen Technical Center will take place Monday through Thursday, July 16th through July 26th and is for incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Students will participate in a multi-faceted service learning project that will focus on two nonprofit agencies; Hospice of Jefferson County and Westcott State Park. Science, technology, engineering, and math concepts will be used during the course of this project.
Both camps are free with lunches provided each day. Register for the camps here.
The deadline to register is June 2nd, 2018.
Jefferson-Lewis BOCES would like to thank Lewis County for joining us in sponsoring the Sackett Technical Center camp and the Jefferson County Youth Bureau for joining us in sponsoring the Bohlen Technical Center camp.
