The cosmetology program at the Charles H. Bohlen, Jr. Technical Center has been assisting with a
cancer fundraiser giving pink hair extensions to employees of a Watertown store.
Sam's Club employees have been raising money for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life program purchasing hair extensions for $10. Over the last few Tuesdays, Sam's Club employees have come to the Bohlen cosmetology program, which volunteered to put on the extensions.
In addition to helping a good cause, the cosmetology students also get additional practical experience by helping the Sam's Club employees as hair extensions are very popular in the industry now, cosmetology instructor Cathleen Freeman says.
Working with the Relay for Life fundraiser isn't the only contact cosmetology students have with the public. The Bohlen Technical Center cosmetology salon is routinely open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Appointments can be made by calling 779-7249.
