Technology
Through class room lecture and hands-on practice, students will develop skills in a well equipped shop with up to date equipment and resources. Second year students can also gain valuable career experience by participating in internship and work-study programs at local dealerships and repair shops. Adult students are also welcome and may attend full time, part time, or for specific modules. Interested adults should contact the Adult Ed coordinator at the Bohlen Technical Center. Adults interested in retraining should contact community foundations such as: JTPA and VESID.
What It Takes To Be Successful
- Minimum 16 years old
- Prior visitation to the program in order to understand the course goals, outcomes, and requirements
- Positive mechanical attitude and desire to learn
- Physical stamina to work in shop environment i.e. lifting heavy objects, kneeling, overhead work, standing for long periods of time
- Good listening, reading, & comprehension skills
- Strong math & communication skills
- Able to follow directions & work with team members
- Willingness to accept responsibility for your work and your actions
- Good attendance is a key element in the successful completion of this program
College and Job Placement
Upon completion of this program, students may go on to jobs such as: technician in dealerships or independent repair shops, repair specialists, independent shop owner, shop foreman, service manager, or parts department.
Students will come away with professional behavior and attitudes as well as good work habits and a strong sense of teamwork.
