Fashion Design and Textile Construction
The Fashion Design and Textile Construction Program has been organized into definite units of study covering all of the necessary knowledge and skills needed for the student who will be seeking employment or further education in the design and manufacturing of clothing. Topics include: clothing construction, advanced dressmaking, tailoring, clothing design, flat-pattern making, draping, basic design, fashion history, and textiles. Both adults and high school students can benefit from the program. Most of the instruction is individualized to allow advanced students as well as students with a limited background to achieve to their full potential. In the garment industry today, "skill" is the key word. Students must be equipped with skills that are basic to the industry and at the same time they should acquire adaptability that will enable them to meet the requirements of constantly changing techniques and processes.

Earn Integrated Academic Credits: Students receive integrated academic credit in English and Math at the discretion of their home- school district.
Earn College Credits: An articulation agreement is currently in place with Syracuse University.
Technology
Fashion Design is a technical discipline centered around materials, design, assembly, and maintenance of textile machinery and products manufactured by this machinery. Students enrolled in the program use the finest, state-of-the-art equipment available.

- Prior visitation to the program in order to understand the course goals, outcomes, and requirements
- Positive attitude and desire to learn
- Ability to read and write at the 8th grade level
- Ability to work well with other people and communicate effectively
- Willingness to accept responsibility for your work and your actions
College and Job Placement
The apparel industry offers opportunities for workers on all levels of training. Program graduates are currently employed as seamstresses, alterations specialists, fashion and accessory designers, jewelry designers, and in retail they are clerks, buyers, and store managers.
