Electrical Wiring is a two year course designed to provide students with the skills necessary to obtain entry-level employment as an electrician or further their education at a post-secondary institution.  Statistics show that electricians held about 600,000 jobs in 2002.  More than half were employed in the construction industry.  Others worked as maintenance electricians and were employed in virtually every industry.  About 1 in 10 are self-employed.

Job opportunities for electricians are expected to be very good.  The demand currently outpaces the supply for workers.  The salary range for electricians was between $400.00 and $1000.00 per week for a 40 hour work week in 2002.
