Students learn professional and personal development, good health habits and grooming, common courtesies, respect for personal and community properties, teamwork, management skills, good work ethic, positive attitude, pride in work, problem-solving abilities, self-confidence, attendance responsibilities, dependability, well-organized work patterns, effective verbal and written communications, leadership skills, computer skills, safety awareness and compliance to safety policies, and respect for co-workers and supervisory personnel.
Projects Include:
On and Off-Site Construction Projects, Custodial, Yard Maintenance and Building Maintenance Intership/Work-Study Programs.
What It Takes To Be Successful
- Minumum 16 years old.
- Prior visitation to the program in order to understand the course goals, outcomes, and requirements.
- Positive attitude, a desire to learn and be part of a team.
- Physical stamina to lift heavy objects and to work in shop environment i.e. kneeling, standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to work well with many people and communicate effectively.
- Willingness to accept responsibility for work and your actions.
- Attendance is a key element in the successful completion of this program.
College and Job Placement
Students that pass written and performance exams earn credits in a nationally-recognized National Center for Construction Eduction and Research (NCCER) construction apprenticeship program.
