The Auto Body Repair program at The Bohlen Technical Center offers a combination of hands-on and technical skills training from highly skilled professionals. The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art" tools and equipment for the repair and restoration of vehicles. Equipment like the Sema Accudraft Down Draft Bake Booth is on site to spray and force dry cars at temperatures up to 160 degrees. Students will have the opportunity to mix paints with a PPG Toner Rack. A Car-O-Liner Benchrack frame machine is also available for students to learn how to measure and straighten frames and unibodies. We will teach you custom painting, auto mechanics, panel straightening, / replacement, whole car restoration, collision repair, frame work, welding and safety. We’ll also teach you how to estimate the cost of these jobs. You will learn everything from high-tech auto repair to good, old-fashioned, low-tech sanding. Its all part of what you will find on the job. After all this training the future is bright, you will be ready to work for an auto dealership or specialty auto repair shop. - Positive attitude and desire to learn.
- Physical stength to maneuver heavy objects and enduance for shop activities (kneeling, overheard work, standing for long periods of time).
- Ability to read technical manuals.
- Strong math skills.
- Ability to work well with many people and communicate effectively.
- Willingness to accept responsibility for your work and your actions.
- Attendance is the key element in the successful completion of this program.
